16 goals Man United star drawing interest from Italian side

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has reportedly emerged as a potential transfer target for AC Milan.

The midfielder has spent the last three-and-a-half campaigns at Old Trafford, with 16 goals being netted in 151 games in all tournaments.

But, the 28-year-old has been given a total of just 12 starts in the Premier League and Champions League this season and it has naturally led to speculation regarding his future.

According to Tuttosport, Milan are interested in giving the Spaniard a new start at San Siro as they look to put together a team capable of challenging for the top three in the Serie A standings.

Despite strong investment last summer, Milan only sits in the eighth position in the table, 27 points adrift of leaders Juventus.

Milan will allegedly send scouts to watch Herrera during the left months of the current season.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have reportedly shown an interest in Real Madrid star Mateo Kovacic.

The 23-year-old has found first-team chances at the Bernabeu limited this term, performing just 171 minutes of La Liga football.

The midfielder, who joined Real in 2015 from Inter Milan, has only played 17 appearances in all tournaments this campaign and is understood to be considering his options.

According to Spanish newspaper AS, United are one of four sides closely observing the Croatian’s situation, along with Tottenham Hotspur, Juventus, and former club Inter.

The story, however, also suggests that Real are not understood to be willing to offload Kovacic at any fee, although the footballer is said to be pining for a move away.

The Croatian star has played 90 games for Los Blancos, netting three goals and making seven assists in all competitions.
