Arsenal handed massive boost in race for 25-year-old Premier League midfielder
Watford head coach Javi Gracia has claimed that he is unsure whether player Abdoulaye Doucoure will still be at the club next campaign.
Doucoure’s displays during the current season are believed to have piqued the interest of a number of the league’s top sides, with the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal all having been linked with the 25-year-old.
The midfielder himself has rejcted to rule out a move when the transfer window reopens this summer and, despite wanting to keep him at Vicarage Road, Gracia announced that he is also in the dark as to what the Frenchman’s long-term future holds.
“I don’t know, I don’t see what happens in the future, whether he will sign a new contract or stay with us a long time, I don’t know, I think he is pleased with the team, the supporters, the club, the city. I think he is wanted. I would like Doucoure to stay with us more time. He is an excellent player, and he can do better.
“I have tried to explain to him many things that he can improve, but at this moment, this season, he is an outstanding player. He has an excellent attitude and helps the team all of the time with a good mentality and attitude.” – Gracia told journalists ahead of Sunday’s meeting with Arsenal.
He has netted seven goals in his 28 Premier League games this campaign.
