Arsenal moved in to seal the deal for the 25-year-old Barcelona shot stopper
Arsenal are ready to make a shock offer for Barcelona’s first-choice keeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, according to stories.
The 25-year-old has been trusted between the sticks for the Catalan side since Claudio Bravo’s exit to Manchester City last year, playing 62 times in all tournaments since the start of 2016-17.
Ter Stegen was also praised for his recent ‘match-winning display’ against Athletic Bilbao, indicating his importance to the club. However, Spanish newspaper Don Balon suggests that the North Londoners are linking up a big-money offer.
Arsenal are believed to be after a new shot-stopper for next campaign and see the Germany international as their ideal target.
Ex-Borussia Monchengladbach keeper Ter Stegen agreed on fresh terms at Camp Nou in May to keep him contracted until the summer of 2021.
Meanwhile, Arsenal made an offer for Barcelona star Arda Turan during the transfer window and was on the brink of joining the North Londoners, as reported by Turkey’s national team manager Mircea Lucescu.
A prominent member of Atletico Madrid’s 2013/14 title-winning team, Turan has struggled to make any impact since his move to Camp Nou in the summer of 2015. His debut was postponed until January 2016 after Barcelona’s transfer embargo and finally failed to make an impression on Luis Enrique and his new manager Ernesto Valverde.
The 30-year-old hasn’t made a single display for the Liga pacesetters this campaign and seems intent on seeing out his deal, with moves to Fenerbahce and the Chinese Super League mentioned, however, it could have been very complex had matters panned out differently over the summer.
“I spoke to Valverde, Arsenal made Arda an offer,” – Lucescu told TRT Sport.
“Arda was on the verge of joining Arsenal this summer, but it did not go through. ‘Galatasaray wanted him, but it did not happen, same with Monaco. ‘Arda is going through a tough time.
