Arsenal set to battle for world-class 67-capped defender

Arsenal have reportedly entered in the race to land Bayern Munich star Jerome Boateng.

The 28-year-old defender has seriously fought for fitness this campaign.

He has played just 11 games in the German top flight between various injury difficulties.

And As reported by TMW, the Germany international has demanded a meeting with the Bayern bosses to clarify his fate.

And they suggest Arsenal are watching his situation ahead of a potential swoop this summer.

But, the North Londoners are likely to face casual competition if they choose to pursue a move for the centre-half, who has earned 67 caps for Germany.

Their north London rivals Tottenham are also believed to be interesting.

Boateng still has four seasons left on his Bayern contract.

He joined the German side in 2011 after one underwhelming campaign in England with Manchester City.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have joined North London side Tottenham in the chase for Crystal Palace attacker Wilfried Zaha reports The Sun.

The 24-year-old winger has had a great season at Selhurst Park and is a big cause why they have moved from the Premier League’s relegation zone in the recent period, netting six goals and making another nine assists in 33 matches for the Eagles this year.

The African star was fantastic as Sam Allardyce’s men beat league leaders Chelsea 2-1 at Stamford Bridge last month, scoring the opener in West London, and then made two assists as Palace dispatched Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal 3-0 on April 10.

And Wenger apparently liked what he saw of the 24-year-old as the manager has joined the race for the talented winger, and is reportedly set to offer each of Carl Jenkinson and England midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as part of any transfer.

25-year-old Jenkinson hasn’t played for Arsenal since they fell 2-0 to Southampton in the League Cup in November, though Oxlade-Chamberlain, who has been much-improved in last weeks, has yet to agree on a new deal at the Emirates, which finishes at the end of next campaign.

And Allardyce’s Palace are keen on the Arsenal pair and thus could be tempted to enter a deal with the North Londoners, although Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs are likely to have something to tell about that given that they have been watching Zaha’s situation for various transfer windows.
