Chelsea eyeing audacious move for world-class centre-half
Manchester United star Eric Bailly has reportedly developed as a transfer target for Chelsea and Arsenal.
The Ivory Coast international has not been included in the Premier League for Man United since April 7 and has not even made the squad for two of the team’s last four league games.
Although Jose Mourinho has suggested that Bailly is not being picked as much because he does not need fine-tuning for the World Cup, doubt stays around the player’s future at Old Trafford.
As reported by the ESPN, both London clubs are watching Bailly’s situation at Man United and are set to swoop if the centre-half becomes surplus to Mourinho’s requirements.
The midfielder has mostly impressed since joining the Red Devils from Villarreal in 2016, playing 54 games in all tournaments.
Meanwhile, Jorginho’s agent has announced that ‘several clubs’ are interested in the land the Napoli midfielder, with Manchester United and Manchester City linked with the Italian.
Joao Santos claimed he would hold talks with the club because Jorginho is contracted there for another two seasons, however, suggested there may be an opportunity he’ll depart this summer.
The Brazil-born 26-year-old, who joined Napoli from Verona back in 2014 and has performed in five games for Italy, has been linked to the Premier League champions and their neighbours.
Santos told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli: “I’ll talk with the club because Jorginho has another two years on his contract.
“But there are also several clubs interested in him, and we have to understand if Napoli wants to move forward with their starters or not. At the moment all we know is that [Pepe] Reina will leave.”
Jorginho, who usually occupies a defensive midfield position, has played 30 Serie A appearances this campaign, starting each time.
He only performed twice in the Champions League however netted in Napoli’s 4-2 home defeat to City in the group stages.
In total, he has scored four times across all tournaments this campaign and made four assists.
Napoli’s wishes of winning a first Scudetto since 1990 were dealt a blow when they lost 3-0 at Fiorentina on Sunday having seen trophy rivals Juventus win 3-2 at Inter Milan on Saturday evening.
