Euro giants jumped in race for £114m rated Liverpool midfielder
Liverpool are reportedly bracing themselves for a transfer tug-of-war among Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain for Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho.
The 25-year-old was extreme to join the Catalan side during the summer, even asking in a transfer request late in the window to force through a transfer.
Barca had three separate bids knocked back, the largest of which figured £114m with add-ons, with Liverpool categorically ruling out a transfer.
Coutinho is believed to still be on Barcelona’s radar ahead of the January transfer window, however, according to Spanish newspaper Sport, PSG are now back in the running and will approach their own.
The Parisians, who added Neymar and Kylian Mbappe to their squad for the 2017-18 season, are believed to be set to pay an expected £135m to land a footballer who still has five seasons left to run on his existing deal.
Meanwhile, German midfielder Emre Can linked with Man United as the player stalling on signing a new deal with the The Reds.
