Man United planning to make shock move for out-of-favour La Liga star

Man United are readying an offer for Barcelona star Andre Gomes.

Jose Mourinho has already finalised the signing of Arsenal talisman Alexis Sanchez this month, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan heading the other way to north London.

But, according to Spanish transfer newspaper Don Balon, the United boss is set to splash the cash again.

They suggest Mourinho is desperate to land Barca player Gomes and the Special One is planning to make a bid for the 24-year-old.

The Portugal international has struggled to impress at the Nou Camp after his move to Barca in 2016.

Gomes has started just four La Liga matches under Ernesto Valverde this time out.

Don Balon add that Mourinho knows the Portugues midfielder is struggling alongside Lionel Messi and co and he’s keen to give him a lifeline in the Premier League.

Mourinho is desperate to sign Gomes after giving up on Sergi Roberto and Samuel Umtiti, who topped the Special One’s transfer shortlist.

But, Roberto signed a long-term contract at the Nou Camp this week, while Umtiti appears set to follow suit in the coming months.

Man United are back in action on Friday night when the Red Devils travel to Yeovil in the FA Cup fourth round, where new signing Sanchez could make his debut under Mourinho.

The South American will likely make his first Premier League game on January 31 when United travel to Tottenham.

The Red Devils are now 12 points behind leaders Manchester City with 14 games left.
