Officially Confirmed: Top Arsenal transfer target set to leave the team

Schalke 04 have announced that Max Meyer will “definitely leave” the club when his contract ends at the end of the campaign.

The 22-year-old has been with the German outfit since the age of 14, playing 145 Bundesliga appearances for the club and netting 17 goals since breaking into the first team.

But, he has been unable to come to terms with a new contract in Gelsenkirchen, and sporting director Christian Heidel has now announced that he will leave on a free transfer this summer.

“Max Meyer will leave Schalke this summer,”

“We’re dealing with the situation very professionally. It’s all been very amicable.” – Heidel told journalists at a press conference.

The attacker who is a Germany international has been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal in the past. However, the North Londoners are expected to face strong competition for his services from the likes of Liverpool, Atletico Madrid, Roma and Bayern Munich.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have reportedly decided to up their attempts to land Barcelona ace Robert Navarro.

Earlier this month, it was claimed that both Arsenal and Manchester City were interested in securing the signature of the 15-year-old, who is yet to sign a professional contract at Camp Nou.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Arsenal are set to make their move with Navarro able to move sides after his 16th birthday, which is on Thursday.

Barca are allegedly hopeful of persuading the footballer to stay in Spain, but it seems that Arsenal will make every attempt bring Navarro to North London.

In the past, The Gunners have been able to land the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Hector Bellerin after the duo had spent their youth days with Barcelona.
