18-year-old promising centre-forward signed new contract with Liverpool

There’s some good news for the Merseyside club fans as they have secured one of their brightest young prospects to a long term deal. Promising centre-forward Paul Glatzel has signed a new long-term contract, amid having an injury that will likely see him miss all of this campaign.

He’s very highly regarded at Liverpool after he captained the Under 18 side to the FA Youth Cup last campaign and made an appearance for the first team during the pre-season this year. Unfortunately, that senior appearance with Tranmere saw him pick up a cruciate ligament injury that ruined his campaign.

The fact Liverpool are willing to offer him the new deal amid that injury shows only how highly they rate him. It’s bad noting he broke his leg a couple of seasons ago so already knows what it takes to return from a long term injury. He has a vast potential and can become a top-class centre-forward if he continuous improvement.

Interestingly Paul has appeared for both Germany and England at youth international level so if he does go on to become an excellent footballer we might see the two countries fight over him. His record for the U18’s is pretty incredible after scoring 21 goals in 30 matches across domestic and European youth tournaments.

You can be fairly confident that German manager will give opportunities to Glatzel who are good enough, so if the 18-year-old striker can recover and have a good pre-season next year then don’t be surprised to see him appear in a few first-team squads next campaign.
