20-year-old Chelsea playmaker got an injury during Premier League game
Mason Mount allayed fears he had suffered another ankle problem after being spotted with strapping on his ankle following Blues win against Southampton. London club beat the Saints 4-1 at St Mary on the weekend, with England international getting on the scoresheet in another fantastic performance from the playmaker.
Mason has been nursing an ankle injury in the last month, but assured fans he would be linking up with the Three Lions squad during the international break. ‘Yeah, I’m fine,’ Mount said when asked about his ankle. ‘It’s only prudent. Trying to keep the swelling down.
‘You always have a little bit of swelling there when you have a problem, but yeah, I’m fine.’ The 20-year-old attacker will link up with England’s team for the next weeks and will be joined by Fikayo Tomori, Ross Barkley, and Tammy Abraham. Gareth Southgate’s side have to face Czechia and Bulgaria this week.
English manager was full of praise for his youngsters following the victory against Southampton but reserved special praise for Willian Borges. ‘The balance at the moment is excellent, and that needs to remain and improve,’ said Frank ‘That comes down to those boys and many them are mates, they came through together.
‘It’s nice for me, it’s excellent in my position, because the young footballers when they’ve got the attitudes that they’ve got, it’s great to manager because they want to improve all of the time. ‘But the experienced footballers around them. Willian Borges was the standout one today, without a doubt for me.’
