£350,000-a-week Man United on loan winger prefers to stay in Serie A
Alexis Sanchez only moved to Inter Milan on loan from the Red Devils at the end of August, but already he is eyeing a permanent stay in Serie A. Chile international agreed on a season-long loan switch to Nerazzurri following a dismal 18-month spell at Theatre of Dreams which saw him score only five goals in 45 matches.
Alexis is yet to play for his new club having been an unused substitute during their 2-1 win against Cagliari in their final fixture before the international break. Although Sanchez hasn’t even played a match for his coach boss Antonio Conte, he is already ‘dreaming’ of a permanent move to Serie A.
Red Devils were keen to offload the 30-year-old attacker permanently in the summer but were unable to find an interesting side willing to cover his enormous wages, reportedly nearly £400,000-a-week. Instead, they decided to let him join Inter on loan, and they will cover around three-quarters of his wage during his season-long stint in Serie A.
Amid agreeing to Chilean star’s departure, Norwegian manager hinted he could still have a future at the club, saying: ‘‘I am sure we will see Alexis back. ‘We have just got to hope that he plays regular football for a year now and then he can find his form.
Whether any of Alexis former partners would agree with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sentiments is another matter after reports emerged that their footballers were glad to see the back of him. Alexis has previous experience of living in Serie A after enjoying a successful three-year stint with Udinese between 2008-2011.
