£75,000-a-week Arsenal star may skip game with Watford due to an injury

Lucas Torreira is an early injury doubt ahead of Gunners clash with Watford on the weekend. Uruguay international missed 1-1 draw with the United States in Missouri on Tuesday evening due to ‘muscular discomfort’. Lucas is now travelling back from the United States to Emirates and will need to be assessed by London club’s medical staff.

Torreira joined the Gunners from Sampdoria in 2018 with a €30m deal. He became an unchanged person for the club and played many games impressively since joining. In this season Uruguayan midfielder already made three appearances and provided one assist in all competitions.

He has contracted with the English club until 2023, and his release clause is around €55m. Arsenal are due to travel to Vicarage Road to play Watford on Sunday afternoon. Gunners will also be closely monitoring Granit Xhaka’s fitness after the footballer revealed that he has been suffering from an Achilles injury since the start of the season.

Elsewhere, Gunners will be hoping that Alexandre Lacazette will be available after the centre-forward was forced off with cramp in the 2-2 draw against Spurs before the international break. Joe Willock has also been rested during the international break due to a calf injury but is expected to be available for the game with Watford.

The 23-year-old midfielder is a regular player of the national team starting line-up and also helped them to reach the quarter-final in the 2018 Mundial, but after losing 2-0 against France, they knocked out from the competition. Probably he will be able to play in the Europa League next week.
