£80,000-a-week Man United injured centre-back will be fit for the PL game
Norwegian manager suggested that Red Devils defender Eric Bailly could be fit to make his long-awaited come back with Premier League leaders Liverpool this weekend. The 25-year-old defender has not featured for the club this campaign due to a knee injury picked up in pre-season but made a return for the Under-23s win over Magpies.
Eric came through 60 minutes unscathed and is closing in on a first-team come back, although Wednesday night’s FA Cup replay with Wolverhampton Wanderers will come too soon. However, Bailly could be in line to feature with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool on the weekend, if he proves his fitness in other reserves matches on Tuesday.
‘He’s very close, might be back for the weekend, got a game arranged today for the reserves, hopefully, get 90 mins so might be ready for Liverpool,’ said Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. ‘Probably same squad to what we were this weekend with Norwich.’
Solskjaer is expected to name a strong line-up for the clash with Premier League rivals Wolves as they look to book a spot in the fourth round against either Watford. ‘We’ve played them so many times, so we’re gonna be facing a club that know more or less everything about us, we’ve got them in a couple of weeks in the league,’ he added.
‘We played a decent first half last week, the second half was disappointing, but at home, we wanna make sure we go through, this competition is one we dream about winning when we are young, loved my time in finals and winning trophies so we wanna go through.’
