Arsenal are desperate to sign Freddie Ljungberg replacement
Man City manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly emerging as the leading candidate to replace Unai Emery as Gunners coach. The Spanish coach is currently one of Pep Guardiola’s assistants at Man City and has long been rated highly for his work alongside Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium.
London club recently sacked Unai after a dire start to this campaign, and it looks like Mikel could be in next at the Emirates Stadium. However, the report also suggests that Arteta faces a gruelling interview process to get the gig with Arsenal, with the whole ordeal being described as an Apprentice-style operation.
This has been criticised for being overly difficult and involving too many different people within the London club. Gunners fans will hope this can be sorted soon as the team has got off to a nightmare start under caretaker coach Freddie Ljungberg.
Spaniard lacks experience and may also be a bit of a gamble, but was, considered for the job before, with the London club eventually opting for Emery when Arsene Wenger left in 2018. Massimiliano Allegri and Carlo Ancelotti also are candidates in this situation, but Arteta excellently knows the Gunners as he played there several years ago.
Arsenal have terrible consequences in the Premier League this campaign as they are in an 11th place in the table. The London club signed several footballers during the summer transfer window like Nicolas Pepe from Lille, David Luiz from Chelsea, Gabriel Martinelli from Ituano, Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid and Kieran Tierney from Celtic.
