Arsenal given green light to sign €30m-rated France international
Atletico Madrid will offer Thomas Lemar to London club in exchange for Alexandre Lacazette if their pursuit of Edinson Cavani fails this winter. Los Rojiblancos have just scored 22 goals in La Liga this campaign and the Argentine manager is desperate to bring in a top-class forward to boost the club’s title opportunities.
Barcelona and Real Madrid five points above Atletico Madrid in La Liga table. Edinson is at the top of Simeone’s wishlist, but Paris Saint-Germain insists the Uruguayan centre-forward will not be sold, despite his contract expiring in the summer.
As a result, La Liga giants have been scouring the market for alternative options should Cavani stay in Paris and this has led them to Gunners striker Lacazette. Spanish club and Diego Simeone who has registered a strong interest in Alexandre in previous transfer windows are willing to offer Thomas in any possible deal for Gunners centre-forward.
The report stresses that Alexandre will only be targeted if it becomes clear that they have no chance of signing the Uruguayan striker. Lemar has failed to live up to expectations since his £51m move from Monaco back in 2018, and the forward has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League this winter.
Reports earlier this week suggested that Chelsea had been offered the opportunity to sign France international and the 24-year-old winger would be keen on a switch to Stamford Bridge. The French winger has also been on Jose Mourinho’s radar in recent weeks, but Spurs would only be interested in a loan deal for the attacker.
