Arsenal held negotiations with €60m-rated English playmaker

James Maddison Gunners transfer rumours could be about to take off as Man United have reportedly performed a major u-turn on pursuing the midfielder. Various reports now state the Red Devils are ready to cool their interest in England international transfer and go after Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish instead.

London club have also been linked with James in recent times, so this development could mean they now have an easier time landing the playmaker in a potentially exciting move this summer.

Man United’s concern seems to be that Maddison has been in talks over signing a new deal with the Foxes, which has seen them turn their focus towards the more realistic signing of Jack Grealish instead.

Still, Gunners should not necessarily give up on the 23-year-old playmaker that easily, with the attacker arguably an even more important target for them than for Red Devils. Struggling new coach Mikel Arteta badly needs a long-term replacement for Mesut Ozil, who is surely going to leave the London club in the summer.

The German attacker has struggled this term again and now looks highly unlikely ever to get back to his best. If they could land the English playmaker Gunners would be securing one of English football’s biggest talents and a footballer likely to star in the PL for the next decade.

The playmaker’s creativity and eye for goal would give Mikel Arteta a real boost and someone to build around for next campaign, and no contest from a big name like Man United is undoubtedly only a good thing.
