Arsenal in advanced talks with €20m-rated Premier League forward

Arsenal manager is targeting Magpies forward Allan Saint-Maximin after receiving glowing reviews from Gunners scouting team, according to reports. U21 France international has been in fantastic form since the PL restarted last month with a goal and three assists in four games.

Magpies paid £16m to sign Allan from Nice last summer and the winger has attracted widespread interest following his debut campaign in the PL. Saint-Maximin ‘features prominently’ on Mikel Arteta’s summer shortlist, while the Gunners recruitment staff have delivered ‘a series of positive reports’ on the forward.

However, the report claims that Gunners move will depend on whether Newcastle United’s takeover goes through as the club’s new Saudi owners are unlikely to want to part with the 23-year-old forward. The French forward still has five years remaining on his contract with the Magpies.

When asked about the possibility of Allan being sold this summer, Magpies boss Steve Bruce said last week: ‘There’s no chance of Allan leaving. No chance at all. I wouldn’t put a price on Allan now. When you look at the level of money we bought him for, he’s arguably the best pound-for-pound signing in the Premier League.

‘You show me another better. When you look at what he’s produced for us, we have probably got the buy of the season. He’s blessed with unique skills, which he’s got in abundance. He’s like a kid in the playground with a ball; players with real natural ability are like that. Whether he’s dribbling against his dog in the back garden or whatever, he enjoys the ball.’
