Arsenal in advanced talks with €30m-rated Brazil international
Willian Borges has offered Gunners and Spurs hope of signing him by insisting he would seem to stay in the Premier League if he left Chelsea this summer. Brazil international has played more than 300 matches for Blues since joining the London club in 2013.
Willian has won two Premier League titles, the Europa League and FA Cup during his spell at Chelsea, but could be set to leave Blues with his deal expiring at the end of the campaign. Premier League rivals Arsenal and Tottenham have both been linked with moves for Borges, and he admits he would seem to remain in England if he left the Blues.
He said: ‘I desire to stay in the Premier League, but I don’t rule out playing in other leagues, no. ‘I’m going to play until the end of the season and see what happens. I’m very used to England.’ Mikel Arteta wants to strengthen the front-line during the summer transfer window.
The 31-year-old winger also said current Chelsea coach Frank Lampard had installed belief in the squad at Stamford Bridge, with Blues climbing to fourth in the Premier League before the campaign was suspended due to coronavirus. ‘Lampard I know well, in my first year, I had the privilege of playing with him,’ the Brazilian attacker added.
‘It has been perfect, I am enjoying it. From the beginning, he gave me a lot of confidence. ‘When you have a coach who has confidence, which makes you feel important, it helps performance. Because you miss one, two, even three passes and the coach continues to trust you. ‘Players need this.’
