Arsenal in stunning swoop for top Liverpool target

Liverpool target to add to their growing band of central players with the signing of an ace from Gremio. However, the Reds face competition from Arsenal, who see Luan as an excellent talent billed as Brazil’s next big thing.

The 24-year-old is a late bloomer in football. He didn’t make his professional debut until he was 21. For years, he performed futsal preferably of football before returning to the beautiful game at the age of 18.

A striker who’s netted 12 goals in 23 matches this campaign, Luan is hot property.

His ex-mentor Alex Sandro Rocha Pinheiro told UOL: “At 15-years-old, I took him to the Rio Preto Esporte Clube. For a whole year, he never played. So, after 12 months of training sessions, he went back to Futsal. From the age of 16 to 18, Luan played only futsal.”

An impressive performance in a South American youth tournament in 2013 put him on the path to glory. Now, the Mirror suggests that Gremio have a huge payday on their hands if they decide to offload their star next summer.

They turned down a £17m offer from Spartak Moscow and are expecting offers of £30m next summer.
