Arsenal interested in signing 21-year-old talented French midfielder

London club are reportedly monitoring Le Havre midfield prospect, Pape Gueye, after his fantastic form in Ligue 2. U19 France international seems a huge talent and is said to be attracting plenty of interest from big clubs across Europe. Mikel Arteta wants to strengthen the midfield during the summer transfer window.

Pape has been described as a hybrid between N’Golo Kante and Paul Pogba, and that certainly sounds like the kind of footballer any team would want. Gunners seem in particular need of quality signings in midfield right now, with the players likes of Matteo Guendouzi and Granit Xhaka not looking too convincing in recent times.

The London club urgently need to step up their recruitment after missing out on several top footballers in recent times. Gunners scouting used to be up there with the finest in the game, as they regularly identified and signed some of the world’s best footballers before anyone else. Pape is contracted with Le Havre until 2021.

Other clubs have caught up now, however, so supporters will hope they can now see off competition from the likes of Sevilla and Milan also linked by Estadio Deportivo for Gueye. The 21-year-old teenager has vast potential and can become a top-class midfielder if he continuous improvement.

In this campaign, French midfielder already played 22 matches and provided two assists across all tournaments. The London club need a new midfielder as Granit Xhaka and Lucas Torreira heavily linked with several European clubs. Arsenal heavily linked with Leicester City playmaker James Maddison and Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti.
