Arsenal keep a close eye on €25m-rated Premier League forward

Willian Borges has rejected Chelsea’s latest deal offer and is now in negotiations with the Gunners, according to reports. Brazil international’s deal is due to expire this summer and he has been unable to reach a deal over a new contract with the London club.

The 31-year-old winger has now turned down Blues offer of a two-year contract and the club’s hopes of keeping hold of the attacker are now ‘receding’. Borges is demanding a contract that runs for the next three years and the Gunners are willing to meet the forward’s request.

Gunners are also in a favourable position because the Brazilian winger is happy to stay in London and has shown no hesitation in joining a rival club. Speaking in May, Willian said: ‘If I leave Chelsea with no trouble and leaving the doors open, it would be fine to move to a rival club.’

Borges is now on course to leave Stamford Bridge after their UCL game with Bayern Munich on Saturday. Speaking last week, his agent, Kia Joorabchian, revealed that the winger already has four offers on the table.

But Chelsea manager has been to keep the Brazilian attacker at London club as the winger has been a crucial part of his front-line during his first campaign in charge at Chelsea.

When asked about Borges’ future after Chelsea’s FA Cup final defeat to Arsenal, the English manager replied: ‘It’s his decision so I haven’t got that answer. ‘He’s been a great servant for Chelsea and he’s been brilliant for me this season with his input and work ethic but if he decides to move on then we obviously will move on as well.’
