Arsenal keeping close tabs with No.11 Premier League forward
Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha has distanced himself from a video circulating online in which the forward can be seen pointing at a ‘Zaha to Arsenal’ sign in a nightclub. The 27-year-old winger was desperate to join Arsenal last summer but Unai Emery opted for Lille forward Nicolas Pepe after months of frustrating talks with Eagles over a fee.
Wilfried struggled to get over the fact that he wasn’t granted his wish of leaving Palace and managed only four goals in 39 games for the Eagles last term. Zaha is currently on holiday after a prolonged PL campaign and a companion, Anthony Billing, posted a series of stories on his Instagram of himself and the forward in a nightclub.
Ivory Coast international has since said it was an ‘amazing’ feeling to be linked with his boyhood club even though they moved for a different transfer target in Nicolas Pepe. The Ivorian winger has a tougher campaign after he wasn’t granted his wish of leaving Palace and played only four goals in 39 games for the Eagles last campaign.
Zaha is still contracted at Crystal Palace until 2023 though speculation of a move to Emirates has returned since the transfer window re-opened.
Eagles are willing to listen to offers for Wilfried this summer but they’re unlikely to get anywhere close to their £80m valuation that they had last summer given the financial effects of the covid-19. And Wilfried has done his best to distance himself from the videos, by claiming he can’t control what other people post on their social media channels.
