Arsenal no longer interested in signing No.11 Ivory Coast international
Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha was keen to join Gunners, who he supported as a boy, in the summer transfer window. London club are not expected to reignite their interest in Ivory Coast international any time soon, as chiefs outline their plan for the winter transfer window.
Gunners had a £40m bid for Wilfried rejected in the summer, with the London club falling way short of Crystal Palace’s valuation. Zaha handed in a transfer request as the window drew to a close, with Everton also failing in a £70m bid, but did not seal a move away from Selhurst Park.
Reports linking Zaha to the Gunners have simmered along since the start of the campaign, but the north London club have no intention of reigniting their interest in the footballer. Ivorian star is still keen to leave Eagles, to whom he is contracted until 2023, and may push for a move in winter, but Gunners have different plans for the winter window.
The media outlet claim the London club will only dip into the market if they are buying cover for injured footballers. Last campaign Spanish tactician only welcomed Denis Suarez on what proved to be a disastrous six-month loan. The Gunners are not intent on recruiting another winger, anyhow, following the £72m purchase of Nicolas Pepe.
The only situation in which Gunners could feasibly go back for the 26-year-old winger would be if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Alexandre Lacazette leave, although it is believed Crystal Palace would want more than what Gunners paid for Pepe.
London club had a busy summer, making six signings, but director Josh Kroenke warned winter would be a quieter window.
