Arsenal set to miss out on transfer of €25m Barcelona signing
Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti has reportedly made it clear that he is not keen on leaving Camp Nou during this summer’s transfer window.
The 26-year-old star’s future with Blaugrana has been the subject of much speculation in the latest weeks, with Arsenal, West Ham United and Everton all mentioned with a potential move.
The France international only made 13 La Liga matches during the 2019-20 campaign as he struggled again with injury, while the Frenchman is also behind Clement Lenglet and Gerard Pique in the pecking order at Camp Nou.
Umtiti still has little under three years left to run on his deal at Camp Nou, though, and according to Sport, he isn’t interested in a summer exit.
The report states that the 2018 World Cup winner is convinced that the player can still regain his spot in the first XI, having been an important player during his first two campaigns at the club.
Blaugrana will resume their Champions League campaign on August 8, facing Gennaro Gattuso’s Napoli in the second leg of their last-16 tie with the contest level at 1-1 from the first leg in Italy.
Meantime, Arsenal are allegedly keen on a summer deal for Watford star Abdoulaye Doucoure.
The Frenchman has spent the last four years with the Hornets, making 141 appearances across all competitions.
The 27-year-old’s deal at Vicarage Road is not due to expire until the summer of 2023, but he could be on the move this transfer window following Watford’s relegation to the Championship.
According to The Mirror, Arsenal are ‘lining up a swoop’ for him, although the Gunners might have to move both Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi on in order to complete a deal.
