Atletico enter the battle to sign £20m-rated Gunners long-term target

Atletico Madrid enter the battle to sign Porto footballer Hector Herrera and ready to compete with Arsenal and Tottenham for the footballer. Diego Simeone wants to improve the midfield, and his primary target is Mexican player who helped the dragons to win the last match against Roma and reach the Champions League quarter-final.

Hector has a fantastic season as he already played 43 games, scored seven goals and made two assists in all competition. It will be difficult to sign him as Gunners and Spurs also planning to make a bid during the transfer window. There will be a real battle for the footballer, and his price could increase and become much more.

Mexico international joined the Portuguese club from Pachuca in 2013 with the €11m deal. He is one of the best midfielders in Liga NOS and a key figure for the club. The 28-year-old footballer is a regular member of the national team and also played in the 2018 Mundial which is already a significant achievement for the midfielder.

He has contracted with Porto until 2019, and his release clause is around €20m. Los Rojiblancos lost the Champions League second match with Juventus 3-0 and kicked out from the competition. Despite this, they still have a chance to win La Liga, and the Argentine manager isn’t going to give up.

Spanish club signed several footballers last summer like Thomas Lemar from Monaco, Gelson Martins from Sporting and Santiago Arias from PSV. Atletico also added Chelsea centre-forward Alvaro Morata this January with a season-long loan deal.
