Atletico Madrid given green light to sign £185,000-a-week Arsenal striker
Gunners will offload Alexandre Lacazette to Atletico Madrid once they tie Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang down to a new deal, according to reports. The 31-year-old striker is believed to be close to signing a new deal, which will finally put an end to months of speculation linking with a move away from London club.
Gabon international claimed Gunners Player of the Season Award after his brace in the FA Cup final win over Blues took his goal tally to 29 for the season. After Pierre-Emerick commits his future to the club, they will sell his strike partner Alexandre to Atletico Madrid for £30m.
France international has endured a tough campaign for Arsenal, suffering from a lack of confidence in front of goal. Alexandre’s playing time has been intermittent since Eddie Nketiah was recalled early from his loan spell at Leeds United in winter and the report states he is not satisfied with a role on the bench.
The French centre-forward has registered only 10 PL goals this term, meanwhile, the Gabonese striker has netted 22 from the left-wing. Alexandre has been consistently linked with a move to the Wanda Metropolitano and almost ended up at Los Rojiblancos before joining Arsenal in 2017.
He has only two years remaining on his Arsenal deal, with no talks yet over extending his stay at the London club. In addition to signing the Blues star, Gunners are also working on a deal extension for top scorer Auba and have been linked with Lille defender Gabriel and Barcelona attacker Philippe Coutinho.
