Chelsea closely monitoring 28-year-old German goalkeeper

Petr Cech is playing a crucial role in the battle for Kepa Arrizabalaga’s replacement, reports claim and is attempting to convince Marc-Andre ter Stegen to join the London giants. The Blues legend, who won four PL trophies, the UCL, UEL, four FA Cups and three League Cups during his spell at London club, was a crucial figure for Chelsea between the sticks.

And his goalkeeping expertise will be put to the test as he seeks a replacement for the London giants flop Kepa. Boss Frank Lampard has grown frustrated by the £72m shot-stopper and dropped him for the final two matches of the campaign.

Many believe he has no future at Chelsea, with Blues bosses actively searching for fresh goalkeeping talent. One of the footballers being considered is Blaugrana shot-stopper, Ter Stegen.

Both Blues and Inter Milan have shown an interest in landing the 28-year-old, although Blaugrana are hopeful he will reject their advances and sign a new contract. Petr is playing a crucial role in transfers, having been appointed to the role of technical and display advisor last summer.

He played a big part in convincing Timo Werner to move to Chelsea and he is working to persuade Germany international that a switch to the PL would be beneficial to him.

He views the German shot-stopper as both an outstanding goalkeeper and a leader, who would be a valuable asset to Chelsea. The Nerazzurri hope he will replace long-term shot-stopper Samir Handanovic, now 37, who is coming to the end of his career.
