Chelsea enter the battle to sign €35m-rated French winger

London club have been offered the opportunity to sign Thomas Lemar this winter, and the Atletico Madrid attacker is reportedly open to completing a move to Chelsea. The Blues are on the hunt for attacking reinforcements, and the English manager has drawn up a shortlist of targets as he looks to bolster his young squad.

Moussa Dembele, Jadon Sancho and Gabriel Barbosa have all been linked in recent weeks, and London club are set to release the funds necessary to boost their top-four hopes. The Blues have pulled out of the race to sign Wilfried Zaha, though, with Crystal Palace demanding a fee of £80m for the winger.

A more realistic and cheaper option would be Atleti’s Thomas who has failed to live up to expectations in the Spanish capital since his move from Monaco back in 2018. The report indicates that Lemar would be keen on a switch to London club as he looks to revive his stuttering career.

The 24-year-old winger is available on loan for a fee of £5m or nearly £50m if Blues want to sign the attacker permanently. While Gunners have considered a move for the French attacker, Mikel Arteta feels his squad are already well-stocked in that area.

Thomas also has on been Spurs radar this winter, but the London club would only consider a loan deal for him. Frank claims he’s central to a ‘joined-up’ transfer strategy as the club look to strengthen their squad this month. ‘I know we haven’t done anything yet, so there is no proof in that, but we are joined up,’ the Chelsea manager said.
