Chelsea full-back on the verge to make Serie A move

Chelsea defender Davide Zappacosta is reportedly in talks with Serie A outfits, Atalanta BC over a possible loan move.

The 28-year-old defender has spent last campaign on loan at Serie A giants, AS Roma, however, saw his time at the Stadio Olimpico blighted by the series of injuries which limited him to play only nine games.

Manager Frank Lampard deems him surplus to requirements at the West London club, particularly after the arrival of England international full-back  Ben Chilwell, and Sky Sport Italia claims that he is ready to sanction another loan departure in this summer.

Atalanta are believed to be in talks over a season-long deal with an option to make his mover permanent for the next year.

Such a move would see Italian defender return to his former team, where he was previously on the books in both 2011-12 and 2014-15.

The Italy international played 30 games for Atalanta in the latter campaign before joining Torino and then Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have interest in three Premier League defenders but could launch an offer for Napoli powerhouse Kalidou Koulibaly, the latest reports say.

The Senegal international has long been linked with a transfer to England with Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool but he could move to Stamford Bridge instead, with the Blues determined to keep splashing the cash.

Bleacher Report say that, though they have recruited Malang Sarr and Thiago Silva on free transfers, they’re also hoping to bring in another defender regardless.
