Chelsea give green light to sign €40m-rated Liga NOS left-back

Blues have been given a major boost in their hopes of signing Porto defender Alex Telles after he reportedly switched agents to facilitate a move away from Liga NOS. Brazil international, who can also play on the wing, has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea in the past, with the English manager keen to bring in a new left-back.

Free-kick specialist Alex has been in superb form once again for the Dragons this campaign, scoring eight goals and laying on five assists, and now appears set to try his hand in a new league. Alex is now being represented by famed agent Pini Zahavi, a man who has long-rooted ties at London club.

He played a role in Chelsea back in 2003 and has had a hand in a host of transfers for the Blues since then, while he stays on excellent terms with Blues current hierarchy. Alex will be hoping Pini can secure him a big-money move to the PL, with Porto willing to let him leave if his £35m release clause is met.

Chelsea have a long-standing interest in the 27-year-old defender and would have tried to sign him last summer had they not been handed a transfer ban by UEFA. Frank started the campaign using Emerson Palmieri at left-back, but the Italian lost his place and was replaced by Marcos Alonso in the starting line-up.

There are doubts over the long-term suitability of both footballers. The London giants will have no issues getting a working visa for the Brazilian left-back, who also has an Italian passport.
