Chelsea in advanced talks with 29-year-old World Cup winner
Amid recent transfer speculation linking him with an exit, Antoine Griezmann is reportedly considered a non-negotiable figure by Blaugrana. It hasn’t been the perfect debut season at Barcelona for the 29-year-old striker, as he has managed only 14 goals and four assists in 37 games across all tournaments.
Given the quality that he possesses and after La Liga giants splashed out €120m to add Antoine, as much more was arguably expected of the striker. However, Griezmann has struggled to entirely settle into the new system and style of play of his new side and so he perhaps needs time to adapt fully.
France international has been paired with a move to the London giants this summer and Chelsea as being keen on the centre-forward along with PSG and Newcastle United, it’s added that as far as the Catalan giants are concerned, he’s a non-negotiable footballer.
Further, it’s reiterated that the French striker will remain with the Spanish club, while he has returned to training this week after the covid-19 lockdown in good condition as he’ll no doubt hope to play a significant role in their pursuit of the La Liga trophy and the Champions League in the coming months.
Perhaps after having had a campaign to adjust to the style of play and with more time to work under manager Quique Setien, he’ll hope that he can kick on and prove his worth in his second campaign and based on the report above, it sounds as though he’ll get that chance as they have no desire to sell.
