Chelsea in advanced talks with €55m-rated Bundesliga left-back
The London giants have reportedly recently explored the possibility of sealing a transfer deal for Bavarians defender David Alaba to solve their issues at left-back. The 28-year-old defender has been a world-class player at the Allianz Arena and it would no doubt be exciting to see him in the PL at some point.
Blues recently asked Bavarians about David, but it sounds like the Bundesliga club were in no mood to discuss selling one of their most important footballers. Blues could do with Alaba as an upgrade on under-performing duo Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri, however, and have also been linked with other big names for the left-back place.
Ben Chilwell of Leicester City has also been linked with the London giants, while they could also turn their attention to PSG’s Layvin Kurzawa, or Porto’s Alex Telles. Austria international would be a fine option, however, and Chelsea supporters will hope there may still be some chance of luring the defender to the London club.
The Austrian defender has just a year to run on his current Bavarians deal, so it may be that the German giants will have to consider letting him go now in order to avoid losing him on a free next year.
David has fallen down the Bavarians pecking order this campaign, with the Austrian defender currently behind Alphonso Davies in the German club’s pecking order.
And that’s sparked suggestions that he could become the latest footballer to join Lampard’s Chelsea revolution, with Werner and Ziyech having already signed on the dotted line. Blues do want a new left-back and at the current time, their priority is Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell.
