Chelsea in the battle to sign €45m-rated Brazil international
The London giants are reportedly poised to make a summer swoop for Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior. Brazil international, joined Los Blancos in 2018 from Brazilian club Flamengo for £40.5m. However, despite the buzz surrounding the teenager, he has recently fallen out of favour with manager Zinedine Zidane.
Since Vinicius’ arrival two campaigns ago, he has gone onto play 69 games for La Liga giants, scoring eight and assisting a further 16 in all tournaments. However, Junior could be a summer transfer target for the English manager’s Chelsea.
The 20-year-old winger has a quite incredible release clause of a whopping £630m, however, the release clause should not factor in any possible sale should Blues make a realistic offer. Blues are believed to be looking to add to their front-line now fellow Brazilian Willian has officially departed the club.
With Hakim Ziyech already signed earlier this summer, Chelsea’s attack could look even deadlier should they go out and make a statement signing such as Vinicius from Real Madrid. Blues are set to ramp up their recruitment drive even further in the coming weeks now their campaign is over, having exited the UCL at the hands of Bavarians.
A deal for Kai Havertz should be wrapped up once Bayer Leverkusen’s UEL season has concluded, though having already signed Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech and wanting a new number one shot-stopper it stays to be seen if they will have the budget to pay £70m for Declan Rice too.
