Chelsea keen on signing €20m-rated English goalkeeper

Blues are reportedly stepping up their efforts to seal the transfer of Burnley shot-stopper Nick Pope this summer. England international has impressed for Sean Dyche’s side in recent times, and it looks clear he could be a major upgrade on the struggling Kepa Arrizabalaga at Chelsea.

The English manager axed Kepa for yesterday’s FA Cup final, going instead for Willy Caballero in goal with Gunners. It’s clear, however, that the London club need a new number one and they’re stepping up efforts to sign Nick, who would likely cost nearly £50m.

Blues supporters will no doubt be hoping their club can get this important business done soon, as they surely cannot go into next campaign with Kepa still as their first choice, and with Willy as their only alternative. It’s been a strong start to the summer transfer window for the Blues, who moved quickly to sign Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech.

However, with their front-line now looking in decent shape, Blues urgently need to fix their back-line if they are to become genuine title challengers next term. Spaniard’s days at Chelsea appear to be numbered and Kepa was axed from yesterday’s FA Cup final, with Frank opting instead for Willy Caballero in goal with the Gunners.

Any move will not come cheap for Blues, however. The Clarets are not expected to budge on their valuation of the English goalkeeper which is believed to be at £50m and manager Dyche has recently spoken of his confidence about retaining his star player at Turf Moor this summer.
