Chelsea keep a close eye on €45m-rated Cameroon international

London club have reportedly opened negotiations with Ajax over the transfer of shot-stopper Andre Onana. Kepa Arrizabalaga has struggled for consistency this season, conceding 43 goals in 31 games so far. His recent displays propelled the English manager to start Willy Caballero with Leicester City.

Cameroon international has been linked to the London club lately, and a report from Spanish outlet Don Balon claims that Chelsea have already held discussions with de Godenzonen regarding Andre who has also attracted interested from Barcelona and Tottenham.

Onana has become one of the top keepers in Europe thanks to his performances for the Eredivisie champions. This campaign, the 23-year-old goalkeeper has kept 13 clean sheets for Ajax in 32 games across all tournaments.

Arrizabalaga has suffered a dip in form this campaign, and if he is to be Spain’s starting shot-stopper in Euro 2020, he’ll have to improve on his displays. Willy didn’t have a perfect match with Leicester, so there’s an excellent opportunity the 25-year-old will be Blues starter and will get ample opportunities to rediscover his form.

However, if the Spaniard’s performances don’t improve, then the London club could replace him by signing Andre who would be a fine addition to their squad. Chelsea have excellent consequences in the Premier League as they are in fourth place in the table.

London club signed Mateo Kovacic from Real Madrid and Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund recently. Blues heavily linked with Lyon centre-forward Moussa Dembele, Napoli striker Dries Mertens, Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, Ajax attacker Hakim Ziyech, Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell and PSG star Edinson Cavani.
