Chelsea not giving up on sealing summer deal to land PL full-back

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is ready to sign Leicester defender Ben Chilwell after the Blues wrap up a deal for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz. Chelsea have already been active in the transfer market.

The Blues have purchased Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech to bolster Frank’s front line.

Germany international Kai could be their next signing, with the club hoping to wrap up a deal soon.

And according to the Mail, Frank wants to sign Leicester’s Chilwell after he lands the German ace.

Express Sport understands Ben is ready to tell the Foxes he wants to join the west Londoners.

However, Leicester board are set to demand around £80 million for the England international.

Chelsea will be hoping the full-back tries to force through a move so the Foxes lower their asking price.

Brendan Rodgers was quizzed about Chilwell’s future at the end of the campaign, with the Leicester boss revealing he is not worried about losing the left-back.

The former Liverpool chief said: “It is something I am quite relaxed on.

“I am fortunate we have a talented group of players which I am sure will interest some.

“All we can offer is a wonderful environment to come and play, develop, work in and improve as a player.

“We will see where it goes from there over the course of the off-season.”

Lampard’s side lost in the FA Cup final against Arsenal on Saturday night.

Following the 2-1 defeat, Chelsea hero Ashley Cole backed Lampard to bolster his defence at the club.

He said: “Chelsea need to add – they need personalties and leaders. The goalkeeper, the defence…”
