Chelsea preparing to sell £90,000-a-week centre-forward next summer
London club value fringe first-team star Michy Batshuayi at nearly £22m, news of the Belgian’s price tag comes after it was revealed that Crystal Palace could make a move for the striker in winter. Belgium international was impressive for Roy Hodgson’s side during his loan spell to the Selhurst Park outfit for the second half of last campaign.
Michy scored five goals in 11 Premier League matches, and his strikes helped the Eagles escape from a possible relegation battle and finish 12th in the league. Batshuayi was signed by Chelsea three years ago for a fee of £33m, but his career at Stamford Bridge has struggled to take off.
The 26-year-old striker has often been limited to brief cameos off the bench during his time with Chelsea, he has also been sent out on loan several times since his big-money move to England. The Belgian star has impressed during his outings this campaign, he has five goal contributions in six matches, although just one of these was a start.
Tammy Abraham has made the No.9 spot his own for the London club so far this campaign, the striker’s prolific form has left Batshuayi and Olivier Giroud with little playing time. Michy’s time with Chelsea hasn’t been that bad, the striker has made up for his inconsistent performances by scoring some crucial goals.
Given his solid loan spell with the Eagles last campaign, Belgian centre-forward would be an excellent option for the Eagles as they look to strengthen their front-line during the winter transfer window.
