Chelsea renewed negotiations with 22-year-old La Liga striker
Luka Jovic is to be offered to the Blues and Spurs as Real Madrid look to offload the striker this summer, according to reports. Serbia international was one of Los Blancos marquee signings last summer costing £50m from Frankfurt but has scored just two goals in all tournaments for the La Liga giants this campaign.
Amid his struggles for form, Luka landed himself in hot water when he ignored coronavirus guidelines after flying home to Serbia last week. The Spanish giants had put their entire squad into lockdown after a footballer on their basketball team tested positive for coronavirus.
Jovic was permitted to leave self-isolation to fly home, but Real Madrid were unimpressed to discover he disregarded Serbia’s coronavirus safeguards. Luka was forced to apologise, saying: ‘I am very sorry that some people did not do their jobs professionally and did not give me instructions on how to behave regarding isolation.
‘In Spain, I was allowed to go to the pharmacy and the supermarket, which isn’t the case here.’ Despite his attempt to shift blame, Los Blancos want to sell the Serbian this summer. Blues and Spurs were vying for his signature before he joined Real Madrid last summer and the PL duo will be given a chance to add him at the end of the current season.
La Liga giants attempt to offload Luka may be complicated by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Chelsea coach and Jose Mourinho are planning big transfer windows for their respective sides, but the opening of the window might be delayed after the Premier League announced the current campaign had been extended indefinitely.
