Chelsea star snubbed Premier League side in favour of La Liga switch

Everton reportedly offered more for Diego Costa, however, were rejected by the forward in favour of Atletico Madrid.

As reported in this morning’s story in Marca, the Toffees were set to splurge a huge €75m bid for the Spanish international, which would have made Chelsea very happy, considering how bids for the Brazilian native from China were in the region of €80-90m.

The Spaniard is reported to have also helped force a move by leaking the report that Chelsea wanted to offload him – something he found when Coach Antonio Conte sent him a WhatsApp saying him that he “wasn’t in his plan”.

However, Costa, whose 20 League goals helped Chelsea take home the Premier League last campaign, definitely wanted a return to his ex-club, with whom he reached the Champions League final back in 2013-2014.

Marca announced, in fact, that Costa rejected some others teams so that he could join his former club, having already decided to move back to Madrid before his transfer had even been made official.

The striker will have to wait until January to perform because of Atletico’s transfer embargo, but the €50m striker will be able to train immediately with his side.
