Deal On: Arsenal eyeing move for Dijon starlet

L’Equipe report that Arsenal are tussling with Leeds United and Wolves over the 21-year-old Dijon youngster Mounir Chouiar, who was left out versus Brest amid the speculation.

Chouiar has only been with his side since last year but caught the eye with some vibrant displays in Ligue 1 in 2019/20.

He contributed six goals across all competitions for the club, whom he joined from Ligue 2 outfit Lens.

Arsenal’s interest comes after the north London heavyweights swept aside Fulham in their first PL fixture of 2020/21.

Manager Mikel Arteta set up with a front three of new signing Willian, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, who wowed with assists for all three goals.

The Brazilian now being at the Emirates Stadium means the Gunners are pretty well stacked in the wide areas.

As well as Willian and Aubameyang, there is also Reiss Nelson, Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and Nicolas Pepe at Arteta’s disposal.

Highly-rated Chouiar is mainly a left winger, although the talent is versatile enough to feature as a number 10.

Meantime, Arsenal attacker Alexandre Lacazette is determined to stay at the club amid speculation regarding his long-term future.

Lacazette could allegedly be offloaded as the Gunners look to raise funds for Thomas Partey or Houssem Aouar but the Frenchman has reiterated his desire to stay put and win more silverware with the FA Cup holders.

Responding to reports that the striker could be sold to Atletico Madrid as part of a swap deal for Thomas, Lacazette told L’Equipe: “If this is true, no, it does not please me.

“But what matters is the choice of the coach, his confidence. He’s the one who makes the team, not the managers upstairs in the offices, and I know I have his confidence.

“I am at Arsenal, I signed a 5-year contract to progress & win titles. I have another 2 years. I am determined to stay.”
