€25m-rated midfielder wants to remain at Arsenal despite several offers
Mesut Ozil’s agent reveals there is ‘no chance’ he will leave the London club in the summer, with the playmaker planning on seeing out his deal at Arsenal. Former Germany international has only 18 months left on his current contract, prompting rumours of a possible exit from the Gunners.
His Arsenal teammate Mohamed Elneny, who is currently on loan at Super Lig giants Besiktas, admitted he could see Mesut joining his boyhood team Fenerbahce soon. Ozil’s agent, Dr Erkut Sogut, said: ‘At the moment, we don’t even talk about it, because he still has one-and-a-half-years left.
‘He still has 15 months to go. Until then, he will remain at London, for sure. He will remain until the end of his contract. There’s no chance he’ll leave. ‘He is going into the end of this deal, he will be 32 years old, he will be a free agent, and it’s not a bad situation.
‘And he will have probably a hundred million followers on the social media site at that time, his marketing will be bigger by that time.’ Sogut failed to rule out the possibility of the 31-year-old playmaker signing a deal extension at the club, but admitted his client is keeping his options open.
London club manager Mikel Arteta also faces a battle to keep hold of his star centre-forward and captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Gabonese striker was visibly distraught after Mikel Arteta’s side crashed out of the Europa League against Olympiacos on Thursday night.
Gabon international also has only 18 months left on his Gunners deal and reportedly wants the guarantee of European football if he is to extend his stay at the club.
