€35m-rated attacker set to pen long-term contract with Chelsea
Callum Hudson-Odoi is ready to sign a new five-year contract with Chelsea worth over £100,000-a-week. England international has less than a year remaining on his current deal and wanted to leave Stamford Bridge in the winter transfer window following interest from Bayern Munich.
The Bundesliga champions have had multiple bids rejected for the forward, including an offer of £35m in January. But Callum is now in ‘advanced talks’ with the London club and is set to commit to a new long-term deal. Come Back of Frank Lampard as the club’s new coach has helped convince Hudson-Odoi to stay at Stamford Bridge.
The 18-year-old star was given more opportunities as the season progressed under Maurizio Sarri, but his campaign was cut short after he ruptured his Achilles tendon at the end of April. The attacker required surgery but is now back in training, although he did not travel with the team for their pre-season tour.
‘He’s a player who’s come through the academy, he’s a player who can be a big figure for Chelsea and England. We as a club as a whole want him to stay, for sure,’ Frank said earlier this week. ‘I think he knows he has a coach here who wants to work with him to improve, and that takes hard work.
‘There a few younger footballers now, some have signed, some I think will sign in the next month or the early part of the campaign, and it’s important we move forward on that.’ Callum also named in the Three Lions squad several times which is already a big success for the player.
