€55m-rated midfielder preparing to leave Arsenal during the winter

Gunners player Lucas Torreira is unsettled at the London club and has reportedly asked Arsenal bosses to consider any transfer offers for him when the transfer window reopens in January.

The 23-year-old midfielder has just started four Premier League games this campaign with the Gunners winning none of those games and has routinely been left out of the side in favour of the likes of Granit Xhaka, Matteo Guendouzi and Dani Ceballos.

There have been calls from the London club supporters for the Spanish manager to give Lucas a bigger role in Arsenal, while the coach has been tinkering with his position and using him further forward than usual.

The current uncertainty over his place in the team, coupled with Gunners poor form, could see Torreira leave the Emirates. Uruguay international is aware of interest from AC Milan and has already made it clear to Gunners that he wants them to consider any offers.

Intriguingly, Rossoneri had been linked with a move for Uruguayan midfielder’s teammate Xhaka following his bust-up with fans, but it is the footballer they want. Serie A giants were linked with Lucas in the summer when his old Sampdoria boss Marco Giampaolo was in charge, and that offer has not diluted since Stefano Pioli took over.

Torreira has started both of Gunners Premier League games since Xhaka clashed with fans, against Wolves and Leicester, though was subbed off both times, and he spoke about his situation last month. ‘I don’t know whether I’d say it’s frustrating,’ Uruguayan footballer told reporters about his recent slip down the pecking order.
