€80m-rated Chelsea injured star will miss FA Cup semi-final
The London giants manager has confirmed N’Golo Kante will miss Blues FA Cup semi-final clash with Man United this weekend. The 29-year-old midfielder has not appeared for Chelsea since coming off in the 78th minute of their PL victory over Watford at the beginning of the month.
Frank Lampard had previously raised hopes that France international could play a role in the last-four clash, having said the midfielder ‘had an opportunity’ of making it when speaking ahead of their victory over Norwich. However, hopes of him making it have now been dashed.
‘The squad is okay but N’Golo Kante won’t be fit for the match,’ Kante told reporters on Friday. ‘Other than that we have a few niggles.’ Blues are going toe-to-toe with Red Devils in the league as well as the cup, with the Red Devils breathing down the necks of those at London club in a bid to secure the UCL spot.
Man United are in imperious form since returning from the break caused by the covid outbreak and have yet to lose in any competition. And Frank Lampard is aware just how much of a threat they pose going into Sunday’s clash. ‘We know they are playing well,’ said the London giants manager.
‘They have the most potent front three in pure numbers. Of course, Bruno is a huge threat.’ The French midfielder’s absence was felt by the London side as they slipped to a 3-0 defeat by Sheffield United last week and the midfielder will not return against Man United.
