Estudiantes keep a close eye on €20m-rated Man United centre-back
Red Devils have reportedly cleared centre-back, Marcos Rojo, to leave the Old Trafford on loan to Estudiantes today. Argentina international has not been a regular at Theatre of Dreams for some time now, and it makes sense that he now looks ready to seal a temporary move away.
Marcos faces increased tournament for a starting spot in the Norwegian manager’s side, and he’s been persuaded to come back to his native Argentina this winter. This could boost Marcos’ hopes of representing his country at Copa America in the summer, with the former Sporting Lisbon man notching up over 60 games for Argentina to date.
It is a shame to see Rojo’s career fade like this as he initially looked promising when he moved to Man United back in 2014 after impressing in his time in Portugal with Sporting. However, most Red Devils fans won’t be too bothered to see him go as he no longer offers enough to the squad, even as a backup.
It might be a bit risky, though, for Man United to be clearing out backup footballers like him and Ashley Young this winter when their squad is already lacking depth as it is. Estudiantes have terrible consequences in the Superliga as they are in a 12th place in the table.
Man United heavily linked with PSG centre-forward Edinson Cavani, Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez, Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale, Leicester City playmaker James Maddison, Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes and West Ham United centre-back Issa Diop.
