Fenerbahce favourites to sign Liverpool 25-year-old forward
Turkish side Fenerbahce are leading the race to land Liverpool’s Divock Origi, who has been unable to command a regular starting role at the club.
The Super Lig giants are joined by a host of Premier League clubs in trying to tempt the Belgian forward away from Anfield but Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur claims Fenerbahce are the first club to make an official enquiry.
Aston Villa, Newcastle, Fulham and Brighton are also keen to land the former Lille forward, who netted six goals and provided four assists in 42 games last season, although the majority of those came from the bench.
Divock still has four years left to run on his deal after penning a new deal only last summer, and is said to be valued by Liverpool at around £30 million.
The Reds may be ready to accept half that figure in the current market though and are also open to letting the player leave on loan as long as the transfer includes an obligation to buy.
Konur claims that Fenerbahce have already made a contact with the Premier League champions over taking Divock on loan, though any deal is dependant on providing a loan sum, as well as covering the majority of his wages.
With the Belgian entering the prime years of his professional career, he may entertain the prospect of more regular football.
A transfer to Villa or Newcastle would not necessarily bring him that, given their transfer spending this transfer window, but Fenerbahce are likely to make DIvock first choice if he joins.
Liverpool may seek a replacement for him, too, with 20-year-old Rhian Brewster the only other recognised centre-forward behind Roberto Firmino.
