Former Arsenal coach turned down chance to sign No.7 Bundesliga winger

Ex-Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger has revealed that he tried to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho while he was a manager at the London club.

Since moving to the German club, England international has managed to establish himself as one of the most talented youngsters on the planet, with Jadon’s form also seeing him earn a call-up to the Three Lions squad during that time frame as well.

Sancho has been on fire since the start of last campaign, bagging 16 goals and 23 assists in all tournaments, an impressive record for a footballer of his age. However, it looks like it could’ve all been different for the 19-year-old winger, and Gunners, had Wenger got his way a few years back.

When talking about English attacker, Arsene stated “I wanted to take him from Man City when he didn’t get the games. I tried to lure him because he’s from London. I tried to get him to Emirates Stadium”.

Given that Jadon ended up moving to Bundesliga, Wenger’s attempt to bring him to Arsenal failed, something Gunners fans are probably rueing given how good the footballer’s turned out to be.

Englishman is going to cost any club at least £100m if they want to sign him now, something that’ll be another kick in the teeth for Arsenal supporters.
