German club in the battle to sign €35m-rated Red Devils long-term target

Steven Bergwijn’s agent has told Bavarians his client is willing to bide his time over a move to Bundesliga. The Netherlands international has emerged as a top target for the German club and has been heavily linked with a move to Man United in the past.

Bavarians are understood to have turned to the PSV sensation after becoming frustrated at their attempts to lure Leroy Sane away from Man City. And his agent, Fulco van Kooperen, has told the Bundesliga giants do not need to rush as they weigh up a move.“We never have, never said we are losing patience,” he said.

“Bayern Munich are a great and huge club, and it’s great they like Bergwijn.“They can take all the time they need.”Despite that, Van Kooperen has also warned them they risk missing out if they drag their heels for too long. He explained: “On the other hand, it’s not a secret there are more clubs which like him.

Steven joined the Lightbulbs from Ajax in 2011 with a £108k deal. He is one of the best forwards in Eredivisie and a key figure for the club. Bergwijn scored 14 goals in 33 Eredivisie matches last campaign and chipped in with another 12 assists.

The 21-year-old winger has contracted with the Dutch club until 2022, and his release clause is around €35m. He is a regular member of the national team squad which is already a big success for the footballer.

Bayern Munich already signed Benjamin Pavard from Stuttgart, Lucas Hernandez from Atletico Madrid, Alphonso Davies from Vancouver Whitecaps and Jann-Fiete Arp from Hamburger.
