Gunners leading the race to sign €40m-rated Brazil international
Gunners are trying to convince Malcom to reject a move to Everton this transfer window. The Barcelona winger is in talks with the Toffees over a switch to the Premier League after struggling to make an impression at the Camp Nou.
Brazil international only arrived from Bordeaux a year ago, but Blaugrana are prepared to offload him as they look to raise transfer funds for the efforts to add Neymar and Antoine Griezmann.
London club see the 22-year-old forward as an alternative to Wilfried Zaha and have asked him to delay his move to Everton as they begin talks with the Catalan club. Everton are believed that they can strike a £31.5m deal with the Spanish club for Brazilian attacker in the coming week.
The English club have an excellent relationship with the Blaugrana, having already completed a permanent deal with Barcelona for Andre Gomes this transfer window. Gunners will struggle to match Everton’s offer but are hopeful they can convince Catalan club to accept payments in instalments.
Last season Malcom played 24 games, scored four goals and provided two assists in all competitions. He also named in the national team squad during the international break which is already a big success for the footballer. Unai Emery has endured a disappointing summer so far, with his modest transfer budget proving difficult to manage.
Crystal Palace dismissed London club’s £40m bid for Wilfried Zaha and efforts to convince Celtic to part ways with Kieran Tierney for less than £20m has also proved futile.
