Italian club in the battle to sign €30m-rated Liverpool playmaker
It’s starting to look like clubs will only attempt to do business in winter if something has gone drastically wrong. That could be a complete loss of form that requires a new addition to bring some life to the team, but sometimes a terrible injury can force a team into action.
Nicolo Zaniolo was a key figure for the Giallorossi this campaign and even looked like he might be crucial to Italy in Euro 2020, but there was many concern when he went down with an injury with Juventus last night.
Unfortunately, it seems like he might miss the rest of the campaign, but Fabrizio Romano has indicated Roma were looking to sign an out of favour Merseyside club attacker to replace him. Italian club signed several footballers during the summer transfer window like Pau Lopez from Real Betis and Bryan Cristante from Atalanta.
On paper it looked like the deal could be good for all sides, Xherdan Shaqiri has barely played this campaign, and young players like Curtis Jones have started to show what they can do, but it looks the move is a non-starter. Roma have excellent consequences in the Serie A this campaign as they are in a fourth place in the table.
Switzerland international might not be needed now, but an injury to Salah, Mane or Firmino would leave the German tactician short of options up front and then the attacker would be needed. It seems like Giallorossi will need to look elsewhere for replacements.
